A steam control valve regulates saturated and superheated steam to hold pressure, temperature, or flow on spec. It is built for boilers, heat exchangers, steam distribution, food processing, paper mills, chemical plants, and industrial heating.
Steam is common but hard to control. Pressure swings fast, velocity runs high, and temperature stays elevated the whole run. A poorly designed valve wears its trim quickly, gets noisy, and lets unstable control ripple through the process.
Every steam duty differs - low-pressure heating steam versus high-pressure superheated, frequent cycling versus long fixed-position hold. Pressure class and pipe size alone do not select the valve. We review operating pressure, steam temperature, inlet and outlet pressure, flow, pipe size, and control needs, then calculate Cv from the real data. When the Cv comes in below line capacity, we optimize the trim or narrow the flow passage while keeping the body to pipe size - better accuracy with no piping change.

Built for Steam
Steam is not water. As it passes the trim, velocity can jump and gradually erode the seating faces. We choose trim material from the condition, and on severe service we put Stellite hard-facing on plug and seat to hold wear down.

Steam demand moves through the day - lines start and stop, exchangers open and close, boiler output tracks plant load. The valve has to answer smoothly, not lurch. Steady stem travel prevents sudden pressure swings and keeps the loop on setpoint.
Quieter Pressure Reduction
Big pressure drops make aerodynamic noise inside the line, worse as the valve throttles. For high differential we fit low-noise or multi-stage trim to bring velocity down and cut the noise at the source.
